Island Grown Program

The ARC is working with the Northwest Agricultural Business Center (NABC) to establish a local branding initiative called the “Island Grown Program”. This program has been in the early stages of development over the past couple of years and the ARC is working hard to establish a comprehensive membership program and pricing scheme to ensure that the branding initiative is a success.

The ARC is just concluding revising draft membership guidelines that create the standards and policies that farmers, producers, and businesses will agree to follow as part of their participation in the “Island Grown Program”. This branding initiative may be a very important step in developing access to alternative regional markets for San Juan County farmers and producers, while simultaneously increasing traffic to local member businesses and supporters.

The “Island Grown Program” is in its infancy, but promises to offer substantial economic benefits to participating farmers, producers, and businesses. Stay tuned to learn more about how to sign-up for the 2013 year! If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact an ARC member or the staff coordinator at
