    GMO-Free Legislation in San Juan County

    San Juan County residents passed Initiative 2012-4, concerning a prohibition on the growth of genetically modified organisms. The initiative makes it illegal to  "propagate, cultivate, raise or grow plants, animals and other organisms which have been genetically modified" in San Juan County. The ARC is preparing to help provide public education and outreach to San Juan County residents.

    2013 Agricultural Summit

    The ARC aims to host a 2013 Agricultural Summit (Ag Summit) in order to provide outreach, education, and coordination among the County's agriculturally related organizations. San Juan County is extremely fortunate to have a number of organizations dedicated to advancing agricultural issues in our community and an opportunity for these entities to connect and share their knowledge, efforts, and experiences will help to create meaningful change for the broader agricultural community of the San Juan Islands.     Island Grown Program

    The ARC is working with the Northwest Agricultural Business Center (NABC) to establish a local branding initiative called the "Island Grown Program". This program has been in the early stages of development over the past couple of years and the ARC is working hard to establish a comprehensive membership program and pricing scheme to ensure that the branding initiative is a success.
